Refractory inflammatory bowel disease

Abstract: Therapeutic options for refractory colonic inflammation in patients with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease have recently been augmented by the introduction of biologic therapies. Intravenous corticosteroids and cyclosporin A remain the standard therapies for severe ulcerative colitis.
