Background: Patients undergoing operation will feel anxiety, this anxiety will affect the physiological status of the patient which can further have an impact on changes in the patient's hemodinamic and clinical status. Fear of the process that will be undertaken, imagining the pain that will be suffered and the existence of other factors, namely the lack of support for the preparation of surgery from family and people around is like a burden for the patient. Purpose: To craft existing hypnotherapy to improve the patient's readiness for surgery, anxiety/ worries and pain. Methods: Literature search from CIAHL, Scopus, PubMed, International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS), and Google Scholar 2002-2020, on this topic using hypnotherapy in preoperative preparation as keyword showed 8 related articles by other researchers. Results: From the results of literature studies it was found that there are several benefits of giving hypnosis before surgery. Hypnosis can also be termed as giving hypnotherapy. The impact is in the form of positive changes. There are various advantages of applying hypnosis to pre-operative patients in several countries such as France, Indonesia and America, including, reducing pain, reducing anxiety among patients to be undergoing surgery, preparing patients for surgery and reducing other post-operative impacts. Conclusion: Hypnosis can be applied in the cases of advanced preoperative patients, which can improve self-preparedness and can even decrease postoperative pain.

Abstrak: Tingkat kecemasan pre-operasi tinggi terbukti meningkatkan hemodinamika pasien sehingga terjadi penundaan operasi. Tujuan penelitian mengetahui pengaruh pemberian edukasi persiapan pre-operatif melalui multimedia video terhadap tingkat kecemasan pada pasien pre-operasi elektif. Desain penelitian menggunakan quasi eksperimental dengan pendekatan one group pre-test post-test design with control group. Variabel penelitian adalah video edukasi pre-operatif dan tingkat kecemasan. Metode pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling dengan 32 responden sebagai sampel sesuai kriteria inklusi dengan 16 responden pada masing-masing kelompok. Uji paired t-test membandingkan rata-rata 2 sampel berpasangan. Uji independent t-test membandingkan 2 sampel tidak berpasangan. Ada pengaruh pemberian edukasi persiapan pre-operatif melalui multimedia video terhadap tingkat kecemasan pada pasien pre-operasi elektif dengan p-value = 0,000 pada paired t-test kelompok perlakuan, sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol menunjukkan p-value = 0,000. Uji independent t-test pra-intervensi menunjukkan p-value = 0,721, sedangkan post-intervensi menunjukkan p-value = 0,000. Edukasi melalui video dapat menurunkan kecemasan pre-operatif secara signifikan karena memanfaatkan lebih banyak indra. Informasi lebih mudah terserap melalui lobus frontal dan jalur korteks, menambah tingkat pengetahuan sehingga menurunkan kecemasan.

Introduction: Surgery is an experience that can cause anxiety, which, if not treated well, will cause some side effects. One of the forms of non-pharmacological therapy is hypnotherapy and yoga combination therapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of hypnotherapy and yoga combination therapy on anxiety scores in elective preoperative patients.Methods:This study used a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest with control group design. This study involved 17 respondents in the intervention group and 17 respondents in the control group. The sampling technique used consecutive sampling. Data collection used the instruments of The Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS). The statistical test used was the Mann-Whitney test.Results: The average age of respondents was 36.65 years old. In a majority, they were junior high school graduates who worked as employee. The major type of operation was tumor excision. The average anxiety scores before treatment in the intervention group were 14.71 (moderate anxiety) and decreased after being given hypnotherapy and yoga combination therapy to 9.47 (mild anxiety). The average anxiety scores before treatment in the control group were 15.71 (moderate anxiety) and decreased after deep breathing therapy to 13.76 (moderate anxiety). The difference test in anxiety scores of the intervention and control groups obtained p-value 0.015.Conclusion:Hypnotherapy and yoga combination therapy can reduce anxiety scores in elective preoperative patients.
