“…This is also consistent with our GO classification of differentially expressed mRNAs, which were significantly enriched in photosynthesis (GO: 0015979), carbohydrate metabolic process (GO: 0005975), and disaccharide metabolic process (GO: 0005984) and pathways of photosynthesis, glucose metabolism, and glycosyl hydrolysis. Anthocyanins accumulated, chlorophyll degraded, anthocyanin/ chlorophyll values increases, and the pentagonal maple leaves turned red (Weng et al, 2020), which is consistent with the discoloration mechanism of many purple-red leaves. In the discoloration reaction dominated by anthocyanins, the color difference is related to the anthocyanin content, and the different glycoside types combined with the same anthocyanins will also lead to differences in leaf color (Matthews et al, 2003).…”

“…Although sweet potato is a root crop that is highly important for food security [ 51 ], research on sweet potato has lagged behind other crops, such as rice, wheat, and maize, because of the complexity of the genome and the inefficiency of genetic transformation. So far, the only functionally characterized miRNAs in sweet potato are IbmiR2111 [ 52 ], IbmiR828 [ 53 ], and IbmiR408 [ 54 ]. In the present study, we found that IbmiR319a negatively regulated the abundance of IbTCP11/17 mRNA, which affected plant architecture and drought tolerance in sweet potato.…”

“…However, the protein targets of TML have not been described up to date. Interestingly, in sweet potato Ipomoea batatas, miRNA2111 was found to be involved in wound response, and a wound-inducible gene, IbFBK (F-box/kelch repeat protein), was identified as its target [173]. Moreover, it was found that the kelch-repeat domain of IbFBK interacts with IbCNR8 (CELL NUMBER REGULATOR 8), which was suggested to lead to the ubiquitination and degradation of IbCNR8.…”
