“…During the senescence phase, protein complexes in chloroplasts including PSII, break down which leads to changes in the structure, metabolism and gene expression of photosynthetic cells, ultimately resulting in loss of cellular chlorophyll content (Thomas and Howarth, 2000;Podzimska-Sroka et al, 2015).
