“…However, our investigation did not find changes in the BBS score among CF individuals, suggesting a low discriminative power of this scale when compared to more refined tests such as stabilometry. Our results are in accordance with Gil et al 30 , who also found no correlation between the force platform parameters and two functional tests to evaluate body balance.…”

“…The platform signs of reaction, after filtered, are analyzed by Matlab routines program with the system software itself, which extracts the main parameters of postural balance: pressure center displacement area (COP), average frequency and average speed postural sway of the COP in both directions of movement (anteroposterior: A/P and mediolateral: M/L). Both evaluations, the falls questionnaire and balance, were performed on the same day when the elderly individuals visited the institution, and all experimental procedures were performed by the same raters (11).…”

“…For its evaluation, the gold standard instrument is posturography, which is based on the determination of variables associated with the displacement of the foot center of pressure (COP), which is the point of application of the resulting vertical forces acting on the support base. The variables measured by the platform identify small changes in stance, which are highly sensitive to determine the quality of the postural control 11 . We chose to assess balance in Tandem stance because of its functional importance, especially in gait, where this stance is essential.…”
