Reliability evaluation of integrated electricity–gas system utilizing network equivalent and integrated optimal power flow techniques

Abstract: The wide utilization of gas-fired generation and the rapid development of power-to-gas technologies have led to the intensified integration of electricity and gas systems. The random failures of components in either electricity or gas system may have a considerable impact on the reliabilities of both systems. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the reliabilities of electricity and gas systems considering their integration. In this paper, a novel reliability evaluation method for integrated electricity-gas s… Show more

“…Network equivalencing or network reduction is a common approach for static power system applications, such as power flow calculation [8], [9], reliability evaluation [10], system planning [11]. In the TCA, a simple and direct method for reducing a radial DN is to simplify it as a constant load, of which the power injections are equal to the total loads in this DN.…”

“…They can depict the impact of stochastic failures and operation characteristics of the natural gas network on the electricity network. Reference [21] combines the above network equivalent method and the optimal power flow simulation method. A new analytical method is proposed to estimate the failure probability of an IES considering multiple correlated failure risks based on a reliability estimation theory [22].…”
