Remedial actions at operating petrochemical sites

Abstract: Contemporary soil pollution legislation often requires the clean-up of operating chemical manufacturing sites. As the facilities above and below ground cannot be shut down or dismantled without prohibitive cost, this means that both the site assessment and any clean-up techniques must be applied in a complicated environment where geo-technical and environmental engineering considerations strongly interact.
