“…If we disregard this concern, the consequences of this illegal loop in a mass-action mechanism can be explored by performing simulations of the loop based on the mechanism and parameters of a publication by Lin and Gurol 1998. 176 17,21,23,26,33,95,99,133,[176][177][178][179][182][183][184]187,189,190,193,195,197,198,200,203,204,206,207,211,218,219,[223][224][225]228 One of these shows the steps in the loop but then excludes them from the final model. 200 There are a few publications that use the inverse acid dependence in the first step of the loop (non-mass-action kinetics).…”

“…All AOPs are essentially based on a core mechanism of organic abatement through generation and utilization of hydroxyl radicals. In recent decades, the Fenton reaction using Fe(II) species in the presence of an oxidant, has gained special attention due to the high process efficiency, simplicity, and nontoxic reagents. , However, there are some drawbacks such as severe acidic conditions of the process and the generation of large volumes of iron sludge, which eventually require separation from the liquid and disposal, creating an additional environmental problem. , To mitigate the processing constraints of the homogeneous Fenton reaction, the heterogeneous Fenton-like process harnessing Fe(III) or other transition metals as catalysts has successfully been used for the liquid waste treatment. The Fenton-like process better performs with respect to the traditional Fenton reaction but preparation of heterogeneous catalysts requires additional resources and effort. , Moreover, the overall cost for the liquid waste treatment increases, making the process less convenient. Also, during the Fenton-like process, the catalysts may be deactivated, poisoned, and may lose activity due to the metal leaching.…”

“…Basically, the efficiency of the oxidative processes is driven by highly reactive free hydroxyl radicals ( ∙ OH) which are generated in situ [ 10 , 11 ]. In this regard, Fenton and Fenton-like oxidation, which fall under the category of AOPs, have been well proven to effectively mineralize and degrade a variety of refractory organics in water [ 10 , 12 14 ]. Fenton oxidative processes merit among others as they do not produce any toxic substances in water environment [ 12 ].…”
