“…Recent ATS/ERS/Japanese Respiratory Society consensus guidelines have defined the physiological criteria recommended to determine if there is significant progression of restrictive impairment due to progressive pulmonary fibrosis, which they admit were derived by extrapolation of data from patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) but suggest also including symptoms and imaging as well as lung function. 39 These would apply to “exposure-related pulmonary fibroses” including classical pneumoconiosis.
