Reproductive Outcome after Hysteroscopic Metroplasty in Patients with Infertility and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss

Abstract: Introduction: Reproductive outcome can be negatively affected in patients with congenital uterine anomalies (CUA), increasing the number of unsuccessful pregnancies and obstetric complications. Compared with the population with normally formed uterus, patients with CUA have higher abortion rate, higher fetal loss rate and decreased live birth rate. Hysteroscopic metroplasty (HM) is a standard, safe and minimally invasive method for the treatment of correctible types of congenital uterine anomalies.Aim: The aim… Show more

“…In a recent study, a significant reduction of abortion rate found to be from 92% to 21.2%, and the term delivery rate increased from 0% to 69.7%. 23 This is the first study that had been conducted in the infertility center of Maternity Teaching Hospital in Erbil city to determine the prevalence and pattern of congenital malformations among infertile women. The study has limitations as based on data collection retrospectively from patient files, as many cases were excluded due to incomplete recording of information, missing data, no computerized data about patients.…”

“…In general, they are asymptomatic [2], but they can also be associated with recurrent abortions or infertility [3]. They are diagnosed in more than 25% of females that are having repeated pregnancy loss [4]. Uterine septum forms about 2-3% of the most commonly diagnosed congenital uterine malformation in the general population and it is associated with obstetrical complications and infertility [5].…”
