Research Concerning the Identification of Some Parameters of a Sucker Rod Pumping Unit

Abstract: One of the solutions to reduce the production and maintenance costs of the sucker rod pumping installations is to develop automated systems for regulating and controlling their operations. The development of these automated systems requires an attentive modeling of the dynamics of the mechanism of the pumping unit, process in which the identification of the values of the parameters involved in the calculations plays an essential role. The paper presents the manner of determining the values of some parameters o… Show more

“…Establishing the variation of the angular acceleration of the cranks of the conventional sucker rod pumping units, which implies the determination of their dynamic response, is particularly important in assessing the operation of the entire pumping installation [1][2][3]. Obtaining high values of the angular acceleration of the cranks would reveal inadequate operation of the pumping unit, due to a poor balancing of the unit mechanism or due to the dynamics of the sucker rod string [4][5][6][7].…”

“…5. The mechanism of the conventional pumping units By rewriting the system of equations (2) into the form: (3) and by squaring the two equations from (3) and then summing them, it results the following equation from which can be calculated the angle ϕ 3 : (4) where: (5) The acceleration a D at the end of the polished rod can be established by deriving with respect to time the speed ν D by taking into account the equation (1): (6)…”

“…The information from some of these transducers gives an overview of the operation of the pumping system, such as: the variation of the motor power, the variation of the gearbox torque and the variation of the instantaneous rotation speed of the cranks shaft, while other transducers provides information concerning the kinematics and the dynamics of the sucker rod column (for example: the variation of the position, speed and acceleration of the polished rod and the surface dynagraph) and the functioning of the depth pump, such as: the variation of the plunger position and of the instantaneous pump displacement. The correlations between the data acquired by these transducers are particularly useful for development or verification of different models concerning the kinematics and the dynamics of the pumping installations [4,5].…”

“…The analysis of the conventional pumping installations in order to improve their operation requires the completion of complex studies both on the level of the sucker rods pumping column and also concerning the surface equipment, especially the pumping unit mechanism [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. Regarding the mechanism of the pumping units, from the perspective of their dynamics, the study of the movement equation is extremely important for highlighting the dynamic response to the motor and resistant actions on the component elements [9][10].…”
