Research on the Impact of Environmental Regulations on the Green Innovation Efficiency of Chinese Industrial Enterprises

Abstract: Green innovation efficiency takes environmental and energy factors into consideration. Enhancing green innovation efficiency is a fundamental requirement for China's innovation-driven development. This paper uses the data of industrial enterprises from 30 provinces (cities, districts) in China from 2007 to 2019 and the data envelopment analysis-slack-based measure (DEA-SBM) method to establish a new model for measuring the efficiency of green innovation in industrial enterprises, and compares that efficiency i… Show more

“…The government's intervention can guide the region to carry out GI, it can also strengthen the GI ability through the rational allocation of resources. It is expressed by the ratio of local financial expenditure to total national expenditure [54]. To reduce heteroscedasticity, all control variables above are in natural logarithmic form.…”

“…Still, there is a nonlinear relationship between the intensity of environmental regulation and some of the green technological innovations in enterprises (reducing the intensity of sulfur dioxide emissions, reducing the intensity of industrial wastewater emissions, and increasing the removal rate of industrial wastewater). Lv et al [27] argued that there is regional heterogeneity in the impact of environmental regulation on green technological innovation; Xu Hui et al [28] argued that environmental regulation has a positive linear relationship for low-carbon industries, an inverted U-shaped relationship for high-carbon industries, and a U-shaped relationship for the whole industry. Ouyang et al [29], using a two-way fixed-effects panel data model to investigate marginal and heterogeneous effects empirically, demonstrated a U-shaped relationship between environmental regulation and innovation.…”

“…Chunyang Liu et al (2020) analyzed and calculated the efficiency of green technological innovation with SBM-DEA model, classifying the high-tech industry into different development levels for regression analysis [ 13 ]. Jiang (2020) used three-stage DEA to calculate the innovation efficiency of industrial enterprises in 30 provinces and cities in China, and analyzed its influencing factors [ 14 ]. Li (2019) analyzes the regional technological innovation and green economic efficiency based on DEA model and fuzzy evaluation [ 15 ].…”
