Response of growth regulators and micronutrients on yield and physico-chemical quality of Ber (Zizyphus mauritiana Lamk) cv. BAU Kul-1

Abstract: Ber (Zizyphus mauritiana Lamk.) is an indigenous delicious, nourishing fruit grown widely throughout the India but faces heavy fruit drop due to several biotic and abiotic stress factors resulted in declining trend of ber production over the year. Keeping these facts in foreground, replicated field experiment was conducted during 2013-14 and 2014-15 at HRS, Mondouri, BCKV, West Bengal with eleven treatments consist two different levels of NAA, GA 3 , 2,4-D, ZnSO 4 and H 3 BO 3 along with a control (water spray… Show more

“…Further, they have noticed that increasing concentrations of all the growth regulators caused a significant increment in the yields. Majumder et al, (2017) obtained the maximum no of fruits/tree (514) with the application of NAA @ 20 mg L -1 . Application of GA3 @ 20 mg L -1 recorded significantly higher yield (30.67 kg/tree) in ber cv.…”

“…These properties are also influenced by the status of nutrient and level of hormones in the plant. Application of growth regulators improved physicochemical attributes of ber (Majumder et al, 2017). If plant imbalances or deficit important nutrient or hormones, that directly affects on biochemical properties of fruits.…”

“…There are many growth regulators, like NAA, GA3, ethephon, ethylene and salicylic acid, which have an important role in improving the ripening of fruits and its quality (Mccellan & Chang, 2008). Growth regulators (H3BO3, NAA, GA3, 2.4-D, ZnSo4) also work to deal with the abiotic problems and biological stress by spraying jujube trees (Majumder et al, 2017). Jujube trees CV.…”

“…Total sugars and reducing sugars expressed in percentage was estimated by method suggested by AOAC (2005). Ascorbic acid content was expressed in mg/100 g of pulp and was estimated using 2, 6-dichlorophenol indophenol dye by visual titration method (AOAC 2005) (2014) and Majumder et al (2017). The reason for decreased titrable acidity due to potassium application might be due to increased TSS of the fruits.…”

“…Two sprays of boric acid @0.4% during mid-October and mid-November on ber cv. BAU Kul-1 increased total soluble solids, total sugars, reducing sugars and TSS\acid ratio (Majumder 2017). Information on the effect of calcium nitrate, potassium sulphate, boric acid and liquid sulphur on enhancement of quality attributes of ber cv.…”
