“…The successful implementation of the European Green Deal must also be carried out through educational system reforms to ensure that all are equipped to meet the challenges of the future, including in those related to labour market. Therefore, 'tailored educational curricula' [4] must contain key competencies and skills needed to support a green economy. Socially and environmentally responsible behaviours may be further reinforced by impermanent education (such as through workplace retraining).…”

“…Among them, CE education in universities is expected and has been considered one of the most pivotal factors to realize the transition toward the CE model (Bugallo-Rodriguez & Vega-Marcote, 2020). CE specialty education and general education in universities have been a broad concern for researchers, involving the establishment of talent training mode (Cui et al, 2018;Weissbrodt et al, 2020), construction and evaluation of the CE curriculum system (Kirchherr & Piscicelli, 2019;Nunes et al, 2018;Rodriguez-Chueca et al, 2020), and CE education in specific fields (Kopnina, 2019;Rokicki et al, 2020). Moreover, China has incorporated the construction of a CE major and the cultivation of CE professional talent in universities in the national overall development strategy in recent years, which have led to some achievements (Qu et al, 2020).…”

“…The wastewater engineering sector faces new challenges for an integrated management of water, energy, and chemical resources in the circular economy (van Loosdrecht and Brdjanovic, 2014; Weissbrodt et al, 2020b). Granular sludge sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) (Giesen et al, 2012; Winkler and van Loosdrecht, 2022) made breakthrough to intensify the biological nutrient removal (BNR) from wastewater.…”
