This study investigates the retractions in pharmacy and pharmaceutical research within the PMC (PubMed Central) database, aiming to identify and understand the underlying reasons for these retractions. A comprehensive search strategy was employed, utilizing MeSH terms and keywords related to “pharmacy,” “pharmaceutical sciences,” and “pharmaceutical research,” along with a filter to specifically retrieve retracted articles. The search yielded 192 retracted papers, which were methodically screened and analyzed based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data extraction focused on publication details and reasons for retraction, revealing common themes and patterns. The predominant reasons for retraction included image duplication and manipulation, inappropriate use of previously published work, misrepresented content, and data integrity issues. The study underscores the critical importance of maintaining ethical standards and rigorous peer review processes to ensure the reliability and credibility of scientific literature in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical research.
