Retroperitoneal Fibrosis as a Rare Cause of Lower Limb Claudication

Abstract: The study presented a case of a 58-year-old male patient treated for retroperitoneal fibrosis, right hydronephrosis, and right common iliac artery stenosis and saccular aneurysm of the above-mentioned vessel. The patient was qualified for endovascular treatment. Stentgraft implantation was performed with good long-term patency during more than 3 years of follow-up. Complete relief of intermittent claudication was observed. However, the endovascular exclusion of the aneurysm did not influence the course of retr… Show more

“…Our cases supplement previous publications on EVAR for complicated infrarenal peri-aortic RPF due to IgG4-related peri-aortitis in high-risk patients with ureteric compression or obstruction. In previous studies, the solution was to relieve the symptoms with ureteric stents or ureterolysis rather than treat the underlying cause ( 26 , 27 ). Our results complement the finding of Hapka et al ( 27 ), who employed EVAR when RPF was associated with hydronephrosis, common iliac artery (CIA) stenosis and saccular aneurysm.…”

“…Indeed, our patient presented with a very nonspecific complaint of flank pain. 4 Laboratory workup would show elevated inflammatory markers. CRP is used to monitor disease progression and course.…”
