Revelações da Arte do Bordado e do Crochê na Memória Social de Nova Russas

Abstract

O presente estudo busca investigar os caminhos percorridos pelo bordado e pelo crochê na região semiárida cearense. As reflexões apresentadas incidem em compreender a importância social da prática do trabalho artesanal para emancipação das mulheres da cidade de Nova Russas, Ceará. Palavras-Chaves: Cultura, Ofícios e Identidade. ABSTRATC This study seeks to investigate the paths taken by embroidery and crochet in the semi-arid region of Ceará. The reflections presented focus on understanding the social importance of the practice of artisanal work for the emancipation of women in the city of Nova Russas, Ceará. It is a qualitative research, which made use of an ethnographic methodological proposal, in order to show the dynamics of the handmade production of embroidery and crochet and its developments after its projection on the commercial scene. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the investigation puts as a guide the contributions of the handicraft practice of embroidery and crochet for the construction of the social awareness process of the crocheters in Nova Russas. The ideas of this work are based on the authors FREIRE (1997); GONÇALVES (1996); FRAGOSO (2005); SANTOS (2008); SEVERINO (2007), among others and the consultation of documents dealing with the history of building crochet and embroidery in our region. In order to confront the readings, visits were made to communities where crochet and embroidery forms the basis of economy and interviews with members of the Association of Crochet, as well as with its current leaders and with the leaders of the Rural Workers' Union, who work in the organization and exhibition of products at local fairs and in neighboring regions. During the observations, it was found that embroidery and crochet are characterized as an income generating activity, strongly moving the informal sector of the local economy. In addition to a source of income, the practice of Crochet and embroiderers reveals a new meaning of the handicraft tradition, transforming embroidery and crochet into one of the municipality's identity symbols when designing them for other markets, giving the city the popular title of " Crochet Capital ".
