Reverse‐phase HPLC method for the quantification of two antihyperglycemic glycolipids in Oplismenus burmannii

Abstract: Glycolipids and sphingolipids are well known for their diverse biological activities like anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antistress, anti-HIV, hepatoprotective and antimicrobial. The present study deals with the activity-guided isolation and characterization of two antihyperglycemic glycolipids, (2S)-1,2-di-O-octadecanoyl-3-O-[α-d-galctopyranosyl-(1'' → 6')-O-β-d-galactopyranosyl] glycerol (1) and 1-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(2S,3S,4R,8E)-2-[(2R)-2-hydroxy-tetracosanoylamino]-2,3,4-octadecanetriol-8-ene (2) from Op… Show more

“…A developed green method, established on polar RP-HPLC was used for quantifying and screening Ectoine from gel formulae prepared according to ICH guidelines and Chinese Pharmacopoeia (22) . HPLC system model 1100 (Agilent Technologies, USA), with aquaternary pump, an autosampler, a variable wavelength detector and a chromatographic column of HiQsil C18 HS column (5µm particle size, 250 x 4.6mm) were used.…”

“…HILIC coupled to MS was successfully applied to decode the lipidome of the red macroalgae Chondrus crispus [ 37 ] and the green macroalgae Codium tomentosum [ 68 ], among other red and brown macroalgae [ 107 ]. Although HILIC is increasing in popularity, RPLC is still widely used in lipidomics, namely, in plant lipidomics to separate GLs [ 80 , 117 , 118 , 119 , 120 ]. Kendal et al [ 50 ] used a C18 column to show which GL species could be obtained from Ulva armaricana and Solieria chordalis , possessing anti-proliferative properties against lung tumor.…”

“…This study enhances the use of the MS-base profiling of polar lipids towards the classification of marine organisms and, in general, the classification of complex lipid matrices. Although HILIC has become a relevant technique in this field, RPLC is still widely used in lipidomics, namely, in plant lipidomics to separate GLs [ 80 , 117 , 118 , 119 , 120 ]. Kendal et al [ 50 ] used a C18 column to discover which glycolipid species obtained from Ulva armaricana and Solieria chordalis displayed anti-proliferative properties against lung tumor.…”
