Review—Insights into the Developments of Nanocomposites for Its Processing and Application as Sensing Materials

Abstract: The scope of this review is limited for advanced sensing materials and their applications. New materials, such as, engineered polymers, metals oxides, alloys, chalcogenides, nanostructured and hierarchical carbons regularly propel researchers and engineers to naturally test and compare them to existing sensors of diverse sorts. Nowadays, nanocomposite has ended up one of the foremost prevalent materials with potential applications in various ranges, including batteries with greater power output, flexible batte… Show more

“…Organic–inorganic nanocomposites have been intensely investigated in recent decades since they create a basis for the development of components and devices for optics and photonics [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]. These materials usually consist of optically transparent matrices including nano-sized particles (NPs) of different natures, which govern the optical, non-linear optical and plasmonic properties of nanocomposites.…”

“…Non-polymer based nanocomposites may be classified in metal/metal nanocomposite, ceramic/ceramic nanocomposite, and metal/ceramic nanocomposite. On the basis of reinforcement fabric material, they could be classified in metal oxide-based nanocomposite, polymer-based nanocomposite, carbon nanotube-based nanocomposite, and noble metal-based nanocomposite [ 27 ].…”

“…Nanocomposite matrices are usually of polymeric, metallic or ceramic nature, while the reinforcement includes mainly nanoparticles (NPs), nanofibres or nanoclays. In fact, nanocomposites have recently been classified as polymer-and non-polymer-based nanocomposites in accordance with the matrix, and as metal oxide-based nanocomposites, polymer-based nanocomposites, carbon nanotube (CNT)-based nanocomposites and noble metalbased nanocomposites on the basis of the reinforcement material [2]. CNT-based nanocomposites, which have been widely used for analytical purposes, stand out among them [3].…”
