This paper aims to highlight the critical role of the interdisciplinary integration of sensory design and design thinking in education, particularly in educating designers. Through a literature review analysis, the paper explicates the importance of integrating sensory design and design thinking in design education and puts forward a didactic method to deal with specific problems encountered in design education. A case study conducted at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute has been used as an experiment for a new didactic method. Students could choose any material and explored its sensory expressions, discovering emotional and narrative content. Then, students selected traditional handicrafts to enhance and add new sensory expressions, reinforcing and clarifying the emotional expressions. Ultimately defined the design theme and students' work were the final output. The purpose is to summarise the results and problems of teaching activities through an analysis of course content. The didactic method emphasises the student experience and the innovative design outcome. The didactic method was tested in design education, suggests possible development trends in the application of interdisciplinary education to provide the impetus for improving existing design education models.

In recent years, design has emerged as a method for shaping public policies and services. This article employs a typological research approach to analyze the application of design thinking in the field of public policy. Its aim is to elucidate the developmental trajectory of design thinking, assist designers in gaining a better understanding of the unique context of public policy, and promote the further evolution of design thinking in the domain of public policy. Through literature analysis and comprehension, this article is built upon the foundation of public sector policy labs. It constructs an analytical framework based on two dimensions, institutional nature and participation stages, categorizing public sector innovation labs in the field of public policy into three types: exploratory labs, executive labs, and collaborative labs. It also summarizes the classification criteria and characteristics of each type of lab. Furthermore, the article explores the inherent logical relationships between different types of labs, offering a systematic and scientific analysis to facilitate the integration of design thinking into public policy.

A design problem with deficient information is generally described as wicked or ill-defined. The information insufficiency leaves designers with loose settings, free environments, and a lack of strict boundaries, which provides them with more opportunities to facilitate innovation. Therefore, to capture the opportunity behind the uncertainty of a design problem, this study models an innovative design as a composite solving process, where the problem is clarified and resolved from fuzziness to satisfying solutions by interplay among design problems, knowledge, and solutions. Additionally, a triple-helix structured model for the innovative product design process is proposed based on the co-evolution of the problem, solution, and knowledge spaces, to provide designers with a distinct design strategy and method for innovative design. The three spaces interact and co-evolve through iterative mappings, including problem structuring, knowledge expansion, and solution generation. The mappings carry the information processing and decision-making activities of the design, and create the path to satisfying solutions. Finally, a case study of a reactor coolant flow distribution device is presented to demonstrate the practicability of this model and the method for innovative product design.
