Concrete-filled tubes (CFT) are gaining popularity due to their excellent performance under compression. Various materials have been used to produce CFTs. Their behavior varied significantly due to the properties of the materials. In this study, numerous articles related to CFT were reviewed. The effects of carbon steel, stainless steel, fibre-reinforced polymers (FRP), plastic materials, and various kinds of concrete on CFT were observed. The fundamental principles governing the behavior of CFT were then determined. The confinement effect of the tube was the key to the outstanding performance of CFT. CFT performed well when the tube had high compressive strength, elastic modulus, tensile strength, ultimate strain, and corrosion resistance. The concrete with high compressive strength and ultimate strain, as well as low elastic modulus and shrinkage, experienced greater strength enhancement under confinement. Nevertheless, confinement effectiveness was greatly affected by the slenderness ratio. Short CFT subjected primarily to axial loads was preferred.

Penambahan superplasticizer diberikan dalam campuran beton dengan limbah egg tray sebagai pengganti agregat halus dengan persentase penggantiannya sebesar 3% untuk 6 variasi penambahan superplasticizer yaitu 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2% dan 5%. Hasil pengujian kuat tekan beton pada umur 7 hari untuk setiap benda uji berturut-turut sebesar 9.75 MPa, 14.50 MPa, 19.77 MPa, 20.63 MPa, 12.27 MPa dan 11.90 MPa. Pada umur beton mencapai 28 hari diperoleh nilai kuat tekan rata-rata untuk setiap benda uji sebesar 14.46 Mpa, 19.52 MPa, 21.74 MPa, 23.00 MPa, 15.31 MPa dan 13.32 MPa. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan superplasticizer dalam beton dengan limbah egg tray dapat meningkatkan nilai kuat tekan sampai dengan penambahan sebesar 1.5% superplasticizer. Semakin bertambahnya persentase superplasticizer dapat menurunkan nilai kuat tekan beton dengan limbah egg tray baik pada umur 7 hari maupun umur 28 hari. Walaupun demikian, nilai kuat tekan beton yang dihasilkan masih lebih tinggi dibandingkan tanpa penambahan superplasticizer.

Masonry construction, an archaic and versatile building technique, entails the assembly of varied or homogeneous components (including brick, concrete block, stone, etc.) bound by cohesive agents such as mortar. The purpose of this study was to authenticate the validity of an ABAQUS-based solution corresponding to the experimental model of masonry shear walls tested by Raijmakers and Vermeltfoort under in-plane loading, thereby substantiating a developed Finite Element (FE) model. Utilizing a general nonlinear static procedure, the ABAQUS finite element software was employed for scrutinizing a continuous (990×1000) mm brick wall, absent of any openings. Analysis of the unreinforced masonry (URM) wall, facilitated by the ABAQUS software, yielded results that closely mirrored those of the experimental model. This comparison serves to underscore the implications of the current modeling approach and the proposed wall properties on its response, thereby fostering an enhanced comprehension of the global in-plane behavior of unreinforced brick masonry walls.
