Abstract:For validation of fusion reactors breeding zones feasibility, a facility for functional in-reactor investigations of tritium-breeding models (RITM-F), based on an IVV-2M reactor has been constructed. The test program will be distinguished as functional tests. The RITM-F facility will consist of an experimental channel with a breeding zone model, a tritium extraction system, a cooling system, a monitoring and management system, and a system for processing experimental data. Main characteristics of the RITM-F fa… Show more
“…The main technical requirements for these reactors are the following: (1) total electric power around 1.5 GW; (2) the tritium breeding ratio (TBR) ≥1.05-1.1; (3) the structural materials should withstand the first wall fluence up to [15][16][17][18][19][20] MWa/m 2 with the possible replacement of in-vessel components after 5-10 MWa/m 2 .…”

“…It then passes through a lithium ceramic bed to the upper part of the breeder. Two metal filters are placed between the ceramic and gauze elements on the upper and lower parts of the breeder to prevent the ejection of possible crushed lithium ceramics into the model space and further into the gas tritium system of the RITM-F facility [8]. Parts of the pipes for inlet and outlet of purge-gas outside the breeder are heated just under g-irradiation.…”

Main results of in-pile reactor testing of the first model of the tritium breeding zones (TBZ) for fusion reactor blankets containing both lithium orthosilicate and beryllium spheroid particles are presented. Experimental results of tritium inflow -in the form of HT and HTO -into neon purge-gas with or without 1% hydrogen are discussed.
