Automated robot tool tj-ajectory planning for spray forming is highly desirable for today's automotive manufacturing. Generating a robot tool tr-ajectory to manufacture an autopiotive part to satisfy material distribution r-equirements is still very challenging due to the complexity of the problems. An industrial part may need to be partitioned into multiple patches because of its complexity. The trajectories of all patches must be connected to form a complete trajectory for the industrial part in order to minimize the material waste and process cycle time. In this paper, the methodology for automated robot tool trajectory connection is developed. Experimental tests were carried out to generate trajectories for automotive parts and the results validate the developed approach. A userfriendly software packages were developed and used at the Ford Motor Company to generate robot tool trajectories to manufacture automotive parts. The developed algorithm can also be extended to other applications in surface manufacturing such as spray painting.

Optimized shotcrete application techniques are required in particular tunneling projects. Today, any spraying can be done by hand or by manipulator. With the development in the material technologies, the range of possible operation was enlarged. With automation of the application, an important contribution to improve performance and quality and to reduce rebound may be achieved. At the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, systematic research is done to develop the fully automated process control, focusing on the wet shotcrete method. With the development of the fully automated shotcrete robot, the user will have a very effective tool at his or her disposal to spray concrete shells (fully automated). With the new robot, the user may choose from three different modes: manual, semiautomated, and fully automated spraying. Especially the fully automated mode facilitates higher performance with less danger to the worker's health. Quality control is inherent in the application process in regard to layer thickness, compaction, and homogeneity.

ABSTRACT:The development of prefabricated facades, using architectural concrete panels or GRC panels, starts by cutting facade maps included in the architectural project. The aim of the architectural department is creating a design of the panels, taking care about the viability in terms of dimensions, weight, location, etc, and also looking at the cost of the execution.With this aim we develop an ad-hoc tool to automate the process. The software, based in AutoCAD, allows the architect to obtain the maps for the final panels and its locations using a graphical interface.The interface prompts the user for all the geometry of the facade selecting it from the drawing or creating it at the moment, including: frameworks, pillars, structural lines, design lines, expansion joints and no paneled areas (windows, doors, etc.).These will be the input data for the cutting algorithm that defines the geometry of each panel.To run the cutting process, the architect must input some parameters about the panels, such as maximum size, type, etc. The algorithm divides the surface of the facade into the smallest units that can be considered and generates the micro-panels layer. By using these micro-panels, the algorithm decides which ones should be together to conform the final panel planning, attending some criteria: viability to fix the panel to the structure, weight, dimensions, total number of panels, number of similar panels, etc. When this process is finished the interface shows a detailed resume of the costs, as well as the panel's drawings.
