“…These results are in concordance with the findings reported in [28], where it is shown that in healthy subjects PTT at rest condition is significantly different from PTT during cuff release (p < 0.0001). As it was expected, it can be seen that the combination of time-domain features (Table 9) results in a better classification performance rather than considering the features separately ( For comparison purposes, Table 10 shows the performance of a few non-invasive methods of CAD diagnosis with the (invasive) X-ray angiography considered as the gold standard [6,7,12]. These techniques vary from exercise ECG to computed tomography (CT) and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR).…”

“…Although CMR and MSCT techniques show outstanding diagnostic performances (sensitivity of 86.5% and 98% and specificity of 83.4% and 92%, respectively [9,12]), the involved equipment is extremely onerous, imposing a great financial burden on the healthcare system. In the context of a developing country, such a high cost of ownership would prevent healthcare administrators from even considering the introduction of these techniques.…”

“…Atherosclerotic plaque leads to progressively increasing luminal stenosis, which could result in fatal cardiac events. Coronary angiography is currently the gold standard technique for assessment of coronary lumen stenosis or occlusion [ 1 4 ]. However, it is an invasive procedure.…”

“…Currently, human vascular images are acquired using various medical imaging techniques, for example, 3D Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA), 3D Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) or 3D Ultrasound (US). With the development of high and spatial resolution combined with electrocardiographic (ECG) gating, multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) has become a clinically important non-invasive diagnostic technique in cardiac image analysis [14,15].…”
