Role of Micro Nutrients Bio- Fortification in Agriculture: A Review

Abstract: Calcium, Zinc and iron are in the list of essential plant nutrients for growth and development. Bio fortification or foliar fertilization is very important strategy for crop management, which is very useful for obtaining maximum crop yield and quality. Bio fortification is used as a way of providing additional doses of macro-and micro-nutrients, stimulants, plant hormones and other favorable elements. The present review describes the role of calcium, zinc and iron in agricultural crop production and impact of … Show more

“…In wheat crops, proper N application increased Zn and Fe contents in the grain endosperm. In sorghum and finger millet crops fertilized with blends of mineral NPK enriched with Zn, B and S, the N, P, Zn, B, and S contents were increased significantly, along with crop productivity [ 208 , 223 , 224 ].…”

“…Applying the proper nutrients can significantly improve plant tolerance against various abiotic stresses. Calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), titanium (Ti), and zinc (Zn) are some of the nutrients that have proven to be effective in water shortage conditions (Adnan et al, 2020). In addition, applying these nutrients can help plants absorb them quickly, reducing nutrient losses and making them an essential part of crop management.…”

“…Thus, excess addition of nutrients to the plant will be necessary through leaves [2]. Foliar NPs have a promoter role in plants; increases the pest and diseases resistance, improves the quality of crops via increasing nutrient content and final increase of dry matter content and productivity [3]. Ni is an important micronutrient for plant, it is very crucial cellular redox state, biochemical and physiological growth responses [4].…”
