Roles of arbitrarily charged heavy ions and degenerate plasma pressure in cylindrical and spherical IA shock waves

Abstract: A rigorous theoretical investigation has been made to study the existence and basic features of the ion acoustic (IA) shock structures in an unmagnetized, collisionless dense plasma system containing degenerate electron and ion fluids, and arbitrarily charged static heavy ions. This investigation is valid for both the non-relativistic limit and the ultra-relativistic limit. The reductive perturbation technique has been employed to derive the standard Burgers equation. The solution of this equation has been ana… Show more

“…We have then analyzed the basic features of the cylindrical and spherical mEA shock structures. It is important to mention that modified Burgers equation derived here is valid only for the limits A = 0, A > 0 and A < 0 [46,47,49,50]. We have followed the pioneer investigation of Maxon and Viecelli [48] and numerically analyzed the result which is given in the form of the stationary solutions (Eq.…”

“…If there is no transfer of heat or matter between a system and its surroundings then the process is said to be an adiabatic process and it can be considered as a key to concept in thermodynamics. Very recently, Hossen et al [41][42][43][44] have investigated theoretically the fundamental characteristics of nonplanar solitary and shock waves by considering positively charged static heavy ions in a relativistic degenerate plasma. Again, Elasmi et al [40] have considered adiabatic ion-fluid, nonextensive distributed electrons, and static negatively charged dust particles and studied the basic features of cylindrical or spherical DIA solitary waves.…”

“…For describing and analyzing the different astrophysical environments [14][15][16] (where particle velocities are close to the speed of light), relativistic degeneracy of plasmas has received a great attention and relativistic effects [17][18][19][20][21] play an important role in understanding the different electrostatic nonlinear phenomena. Plasmas in different astrophysical compact objects such as white dwarfs, neutron stars, and so on are examples where relativistic degeneracy is a dominant phenomenon.…”
