Summary: Low-angle X-ray diffraction is a powerful means of investigating the microfibril-matrix-complex of a-keratins. Former X-ray investigations of swollen keratins with different matrix contents have been interpreted in terms of a preferential microfibrillar swelling. In order to consider also the chemically bound water our X-ray investigations of swollen keratins have now been extended on Dnp-keratins. The hereby obtained results have been discussed after comparison with the former results. Furthermore the deposition of Na-decylsulfate in ,,exotic" a-keratins with unusual matrix compositions has been studied. Finally it has been shown that fluorinated alcohols -trifluoroethanol and hexafluoroisopropanol -react as well with the matrix proteins as with the microfibrillar proteins.SchliisselwSrter: RSntgenkleinwinkeluntersuchungen, Mikrofibrillen-Matrix-Verbundstruktur, Quellenstudien in Wasser, Tensideinlagerungen, fluorierte Alkohole.
