Routing protocols for sensor networks

Abstract: Sensor networks are emerging as a new tool for habitat monitoring in nature preserves, monitoring and gathering events in hazardous environments, surveillance of buildings, and surveillance of enemy activities in a battlefield environment. Nodes in a sensor network are severely constrained by energy, storage capacity and computing power. To prolong the lifetime of the sensor nodes, designing efficient routing protocols is critical. Even though sensor networks are primarily designed for monitoring and reporting… Show more

“…Mainly of these routing protocols can be classified into three categories of the directcommunication, flat and clustering routing, and the characteristics of proactive, reactive and hybrid are also the routing types depending on how the source finds a route to the destination [1]. In this section, we introduce some general routing protocol in sensor networks as follows and also discuss these routing protocols with their properties.…”

“…In addition, transmission is not completed if there are isolated sensors, and battery power is consumed between nearby nodes and isolated nodes since ADV packets continue to be sent for connection. These problems may occur in the case of a forest fire where a large number of sensors are installed over wide area [7][8][9].…”

“…[2,3] introduces the concept of using routing protocols in wireless networks. Recently, there are three leading ways of routing .They are chain-based, clusterbased and tree-based; our paper will focus on cluster-based.…”
