Show more

“…Few studies have investigated the effects of its related metabolite rubrofusarin. These describe rubrofusarin-induced inhibition of human DNA topoisomerase II-α [56] as well as antibiotic effects [40]. Equally little is known about the metabolites equisetin and bikaverin, which occur in 87% and 17% of feed samples ( n = 83), respectively [8].…”

“…Interest in compounds with inhibitory activity against the enzyme DNA-topoisomerase II-a has increased, [13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] because intracellular levels of topoisomerase II-a (topo II-a) are elevated in a number of human tumors as compared to the respective normal tissues. Moreover, the development of drugs that can affect the DNA replication process by selectively interfering with the function of topo II-a continues to draw researchers' attention.…”

“…After drying, the bark was shred and extracted with n-hexane (2 L) and dichloromethane (2 L) at room temperature for seven days each, successively. During the evaporation of the hexane under reduced pressure in the rotary evaporator, the formation of a red coloured precipitate was observed, filtered and identified as rubrofusarin 1 (2.0 g) (Branco et al 2008). The residue, after further drying, yielded the respective hexane extract (9.1 g) that was chromatographed with a gradient of EtOAc in hexane to furnish an additional quantity of 1 (0.8 g).…”
