Rule-based solution for context-aware reasoning on mobile devices

Abstract: With the rapid evolution of mobile devices, the concept of context aware applications has gained a remarkable popularity in recent years. Smartphones and tablets are equipped with a variety of sensors including accelerometers, gyroscopes, and GPS, pressure gauges, light and GPS sensors. Additionally, the devices become computationally powerful which allows real-time processing of data gathered by their sensors. Universal network access viaWiFi hot-spots and GSM network makes mobile devices pe… Show more

“…Our future work will focus on practical assessment of process models with the time related logic specification and the possibility of validation and verification of such models [61] or compliance checking [62], especially with the existing tools which uses temporal knowledge [63], [64]. One of the possible directions is related to integration of timed process models with timed rules models for complex reasoning on contex data [65], [66]. Important issue is also practical design of timed models of processes and rules [67].…”

“…Nalepa & Bobek [7] proposed a new rule-based context reasoning platform tailored to the needs of intelligent distributed mobile computing devices. They made a comparison of existent context modelling approaches, and they took into consideration the following aspect of context modelling methods: formalization, simplicity, expressiveness, support for inference, uncertainty handling, and existing tools that support design.…”

“…Developing systems that allow applications to be context-aware has been subject to extensive research. [7] [8] [9] [10]. One of the challenges in this respect, is developing a flexible and expressive context model.…”

“…We are considering how semantic annotations could enhance intelligibility of the business logic. Thanks to the already integrated domain ontology, it would be easy to enhance rules with semantic annotations, leading to more meaningful design of the system, and possibly porting it to mobile platforms [20], and simplyfying a formalized modeling [21]. We are also working on a tighter integration of the components of the BPM system, including semantic tracking of business objects and a BP editor [22].…”
