Ruthen‐Ammine. XI. Nitroso‐Pentammine des Rutheniums

Abstract: Inhaltsubersicht 1. 3. Au5er dem Sulfat-Persulfat wurderi folgende Salze der Reihe eindeutig charakterisiert und analysiert: a) das Chlorid [Ru(NH,),NO]CI,. H,O b) das Bro… Show more

“…The general structure of this class of NO donors, depicted below, includes the {Ru-NO} 6 core ligated to four equatorial ammine ligands, and a sixth ligand X ( trans to NO) which is varied. Although the simplest of these nitrosyls, namely [Ru(NH 3 ) 5 (NO)](BF 4 ) 3 ( 4 ) was synthesized as far back as 1952 [112114], the photochemistry of such species was not quantitatively investigated until some forty years later [111]. …”

“…The synthesis of ruthenium–nitrosyl complexes with trans ON–Ru–NH 3 arrangements is a difficult task. The reported methods describe synthetic pathways for pentaammine, or cis ‐tetraammine ruthenium–nitrosyl complexes in aqueous solutions . The problem arises from the instability of the ammine ligand coordinated trans to the NO ligand in basic media.…”

“…The problem arises from the instability of the ammine ligand coordinated trans to the NO ligand in basic media. A hydroxido ligand tends to replace the ammine ligand or cis ‐to‐ trans isomerization occurs for tetraammine complexes . Thus, the way to synthesize these complexes is to attach a nitrosyl ligand to the already prepared ammine complexes.…”

“…210 With a number of complexing ions, both ruthenium(1v) and ruthenium(II1) form the same coloured complex, the quadrivalent ruthenium being reduced in each case by the ligand before complexing occurs; i.e., with A new series of a nitrosopentamminoruthenium(I1I) ion [Ru(NH,),*NO]+~ has been prepared : the salts are diamagnetic. 213 A number of salts of tetracyanopalladic(11) acid have been studied : 214 the acid, which is prepared by acidification of a solution of palladium(11) cyanide in excess of cyanide ions, forms insoluble salts with silver and copper(I1) ions or with their ammines. It also forms normal salts with benzidine, naphthaquinoline, and oxine, and the salts of nitron.…”
