Rutting Performance of Hot Mix Asphalt Mixture Using Nanopolyacrylate Polymer Modifier

Abstract: Rutting is a common pavement failure in road pavement. Rutting occurs mainly due to several factors including increasing of vehicles numbers, environmental conditions and also due to construction and design errors. As a consequence the service life of asphalt pavement is affected and will be decreased. Various researches reported that using different types of polymers in bitumen modification could be a solution to delay deterioration of asphalt pavement. The main purpose of the study was to investigate the eff… Show more

“…Over the past decades, interest on binder additives or modifier and research on polymer modified binder (PMBs) to improve the properties of asphalt mixes have been reported in many studies [3,4,5]. Previous research on the use of several types of polymers in modified binder such as natural rubber latex (NR), SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene Block Copolymer), SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber Latex), and EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) have shown improved results on the performance of Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) mix compared to conventional binder [6,7,8,9]. The use of nanomaterials are able to enhance the properties and performance of asphalt mixes [10,11].…”
