Nowadays, cochlear implant has provided a new lifestyle to many hearing-impaired children and adults. Centers which are conducted cochlear implant which is currently 38 in our country and hundreds of cochlear implant practices are being implemented in these centers. Nurses have an important responsibility of providing improvements in patients undergoing cochlear implant surgery, prevention, early detection and management of complications which may be occured. Nurses have needed to educate themselves to be prepared for such technological surgery and to provide the care of patients with the best conditions. The number of medical publications and studies about the implementation of cochlear implant has been increased rapidly, and also in the literature, studies dealing with the nursing aspect of this issue have not been found. In this article, cochlear implant's technical specifications, selection of patients, the impact on quality of life, preoperative and postoperative care of cochlear implant patients with the surgical technique and possible complications are included. This study is expected to contribute to our colleagues working in these units which cochlear implant is implemented and planned to be implemented.
