Abstract:Satellite evidence indicates a global increase in lacustrine algal blooms. These blooms can drift with winds, resulting in significant changes of the algal biomass spatial distribution, which is crucial in bloom formation. However, the lack of long-term, largescale observational data has limited our understanding of bloom drift. Here, we have developed a novel method to track the drift using multi-source remote sensing satellites and presented a comprehensive bloom drift data set for four typical lakes:
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
