sATP‑binding cassette subfamilyG member2 enhances the multidrug resistance properties of human nasal natural killer/Tcell lymphoma side population cells

Abstract: Extranodal natural killer (NK)/T cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKL) is a rare type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that is associated with limited effective treatment options and unfavorable survival rate, which is partly the result of multidrug resistance (MDR). The presence of side population (SP) cells-SNK-6/ADM-SP (SSP) cells has been previously used to explore mechanisms of drug resistance. ATP-binding cassette subfamily G member 2 (ABCG2) is a gene involved in MDR and is closely associated with SPs. However, the… Show more

“…ABCA1 participates in the export of free cholesterol by specific cells, such as macrophages and foam cells, into the lymphoma microenvironment, which in turn promotes lymphoma cell proliferation ( 50 ). ABCG2 enhances the multidrug resistance profile of human NKTCL side-population cells ( 51 ). Thus, ABC protein family members combined with senescence-associated biomarkers (e.g.…”

“…The ATP-binding cassette (ABC) family includes multiple proteins that extrude chemotherapeutic drugs. The subfamily G, member 2 protein (ABCG2) is expressed in oncological NK cells [105]. In these cells, ABCG2 expression confers resistance to multiple chemotherapeutics such as cytarabine, doxorubicin, cisplatin, or gemcitabine, in contrast to non-oncological cells.…”

“…Overall, it is important to highlight the role of ABCC4 in drug resistance. Based on gene expression regulation technology, overexpression of ABCC4 and ABCG4 can induce epirubicin (EPI) and cisplatin (DDP) resistance in human NK/ T cell lymphoma YTS cells and reduce cell apoptosis [ 72 ]. Meanwhile,IL-6, IL-10, and IL13 mediate ABCC4 resistance in T-cell lymphoma [ 64 , 73 , 74 ].…”
