Scenarios for the Development of Polish Passenger Transport Services in Pandemic Conditions

Abstract: The article presents a prediction regarding the development of passenger transport services, considering random factors related to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, based on scenario methods. The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected the way passenger transport services are provided, mainly due to sanitary restrictions imposed by epidemiological services. “…Many authors have focused on the integration of sharing services with public transport in their research. For example, Izdebski and Jacyna [66], Jacyna et al [67], Barcha ński et al [68], and others [69,70] proposed a model for the integration of different transport services in the decision-making process. Usually, researchers treat transport-sharing services as a complement to public transport on short and medium trips.…”

“…Cieśla et al (2021) [50] proposed four scenarios for passenger transport services (i.e., pessimistic, optimistic, most likely, and surprising (or unexpected)) in Poland during pandemic situations. Key factors that should be controlled (e.g., controlling the number of passengers inside vehicles) and that should be improved (e.g., provision of disinfectants) in order to enhance the quality of passenger transport services were identified and discussed in this study.…”
