SCOR: Software-defined Constrained Optimal Routing Platform for SDN

Abstract: A Software-defined Constrained Optimal Routing (SCOR) platform is introduced as a Northbound interface in SDN architecture. It is based on constraint programming techniques and is implemented in MiniZinc modelling language. Using constraint programming techniques in this Northbound interface has created an efficient tool for implementing complex Quality of Service routing applications in a few lines of code. The code includes only the problem statement and the solution is found by a general solver program. A r… Show more

“…The results indicate better delay performance in largescale networks when compared to SDN. One of the most common proposed method is the flow routing framework [21]- [30], where the flows' routes are adjusted dynamically according to the network state. Despite the available traffic engineering techniques like packet queuing, this solution uses the key features of SDN such as the global network view and the simplicity of network management.…”

“…Other related works like [31], [32] proposed a framework for QoS provisioning based on per-flow routing. Similarly the works in [27]- [30], [33]- [37] adopted the per-flow routing.…”

“…• Another thing needs to be considered, is that most of the works focus on a specific application and optimize routing. The authors in [233]- [235] generalized the optimization and provide an API for solving constrained programming problems. They proposed a platform for facilitating optimization for the user, by making interface base on constraint programming.…”

“…Stochastic optimization techniques have been used for many applications in resilience [47], [48] and the underlying methodologies are a key part of this research. Prior work in configuration management with constraint programming [49], [50] focused on connectivity or security. We are not aware of any work that balances these two objectives in a meaningful way.…”
