IGF‐1 promotes angiogenesis in endothelial cells/adipose‐derived stem cells co‐culture system with activation of PI3K/Akt signal pathway

Abstract: IGF-1 and co-culture between cells facilitate the process of angiogenesis via the PI3-kinase/Akt signalling pathway. In ECs, IGF-1 stimulates the expression of angiogenesis-related growth factors with the activation of the PI3-kinase/Akt signalling pathway. Co-cultured ECs exposed to excess VEGF-A and other angiogenesis-related growth factors para-secreted from ASCs exhibit high expression of angiogenesis-related genes and proteins. In ASCs, IGF-1 induces the recruitment and function of ASCs by up-regulating t… Show more

“…Furthermore, IGFs also increase the number and function of EPCs, which may contribute to protection from atherosclerosis, as well as promoting angiogenesis (Bach, 2014). Moreover, it was proven that in endothelial cells, IGF-1 stimulates the expression of angiogenesis-related growth factors with the activation of the PI3-kinase/Akt signaling pathway (S. Lin et al, 2017).…”

“…The mechanisms of interaction and the role of IGF1 in cell and tissue metabolism are still being explored. Numerous IGF1 functions have demonstrated their effects on cell proliferation and differentiation, and on angiogenesis, which facilitates the overgrowth of the implant [ 20 ]. The clinical observations and animal data suggest that the essential pool of IGF1 in the bone matrix may not be sufficiently available for new bone formation during the aging process and in disease states.…”

“…Further, KEGG pathway data indicated that PI3K/AKT signaling pathway molecules were signi cantly enriched, suggesting that the PI3K/AKP signaling pathway may play an important role during anal stula healing. S Lin et al found that insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) can promote endothelial cells/fat by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway by observing vascular formation in stem cell co-culture systems [22]. H Zhou reports that the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway promotes paracrine functions of ASCs [23].…”
