Screening for potential quality markers of Callerya nitida var. hirsutissima. Z.Wei based on components profile, pharmacokinetics, and anti‐inflammatory study

Abstract: Callerya nitida var. hirsutissima. Z.Wei is a classical, traditional Chinese herbal medicine mostly used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Recent reports suggest that inconsistent and poor-quality control levels have primarily affected the therapeutic efficacy. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to investigate the active chemical ingredients, stability of components in blood, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics to specify the potential markers for quality control and quality evaluation of Callerya nit… Show more

“…hirsutissima was administered to rats, then blood samples were collected from the retroorbital venous plexus at 0.083, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, 12.0 and 24.0 h for subsequent pharmacokinetic experiments. The values of area under the drug-time curve (AUC) and terminal elimination half-life (T1/2) in this experiment reflected that the chemical components were well absorbed and distributed in the body after oral administration [ 104 ]. Therefore, pharmacodynamics is one of the critical components for the quality control of CM, which lays a theoretical foundation for Q-markers and can be widely used in discovering Q-markers for CM to improve the quality control standards and clinical efficacy of CM.…”

“…Feasible PK investigation strategies or methods for complex TCM products, such as, PK marker identification and integrated PK investigation, have been extensively investigated ( Shi et al, 2018 ; Chen et al, 2022 ). Among these studies, PK marker identification is considered a promising method for exploring the overall process of a complex TCM in vivo .…”
