SealBio: A novel, non-obturation endodontic treatment based on concept of regeneration

Abstract: Introduction:“SealBio”, an innovative, non-surgical endodontic treatment protocol, based on “regenerative concept” has been developed to manage pulp and periapically involved teeth.Materials and Methods:Subsequent to Institute's ethical clearance, 18 patients presenting with signs and symptoms of pulp and periapical disease were included in the study. (11/M, 7/F; Mean age - 44.7 years; range 15-76 years). The protocol included a modified cleaning and shaping technique involving apical clearing and foramen wide… Show more

“…In conclusion, if mature teeth with necrotic pulp and apical periodontitis can be treated using RET (12)(13)(14), teeth with persistent apical periodontitis after root canal therapy may also be managed with RET after careful root canal infection control (20). The treatment objectives and goals of nonsurgical root canal therapy and RET are the sameelimination of clinical signs/symptoms and healing of apical periodontitis.…”

“…Recently, mature permanent teeth with necrotic pulps and apical periodontitis have been successfully treated using RET (12)(13)(14). The treatment eliminates clinical signs/symptoms and resolves apical periodontitis.…”

“…Recently, Shah and Logani introduced an innovative, nonsurgical regenerative endodontic treatment protocol “SealBio” to manage mature, nonvital permanent teeth with periapical lesions. [ 9 ] It helps in achieving a definite cemental/fibrous barrier at the root apex. [ 9 ] This paper describes the management of DE and an attached supernumerary tooth/an odontome associated with two distinct radiolucencies in a mandibular premolar with “SealBio” technique and discusses the various hypotheses on the pathogenesis of unusual malformation and associated pericervical cyst-like radiolucency in the involved tooth.…”

“…We read with great interest the article by Shah and Logani[1] regarding the formation of a biological seal after revascularization procedures. Unfortunately, the formation of so-called “biological seal” has not been demonstrated in the entire manuscript.…”
