“…Certainly in lichens where cross-breeding experiments which could confirm isoenzyme differences are as yet impossible, interpretations of isoenzyme variability should be made with caution. There are other serious potential problems with the seasonal variation found in isoenzymes (McCowan et al, 1969;De Jong, 1973;Kelley and Adams, 1977b;Krasnuk et al, 1978a, b;Verkley and Zuetenhorst, 1980; for example) and certainly no seasonal control has been attempted here.…”

“…The pellets were resuspended in a minimal volume of 0-05 M phosphate buffer, pH 6-8 and desalted by gel filtration on a column of Sephadex G25 (Pharmacia Fine Chemicals, Dorval, Quebec) (2-6 x 40 cm) previously equilibrated with 0-05 M phosphate column buffer. Protein fractions were concentrated by dialysis with sucrose according to the method of Kelley and Adams (1977b). Following dialysis, all samples were stored at 4 °C until electrophoresis.…”

“…Ces variations quantitatives ont pu être mises en rapport avec des changements dans les caractéristiques des enzymes (changements conformationnels des molécules protéiques) ou bien la synthèse de constituants nouveaux. Chez d'autres espèces, au contraire (Génévrier), l'accroissement de la quantité de ces enzymes ne s'accompagne pas de variations qualitatives (55).…”
