“…)-; en el presente estudio encontramos una prevalencia cercana a las ¾ partes de la población evaluada, lo cual pone en consideración el elevado riesgo al que están expuestas las mujeres en la posmenopausia, así como de la necesidad de mejorar los programas de suplementación con vitamina D.En relación con otras publicaciones de Latinoamérica, sobre el dé�icit de vitamina D, nuestros resultados muestran cifras superiores a las reportadas en Argentina, donde se informó una prevalencia de dé�icit de vitamina D de hasta 65%, entre más de 500 mujeres posmenopáusicas, casi el doble a lo reportado por el estudio NHANES III en mujeres mayores de 40 años (40%)(19)(20)(21)(22) . Sin embargo, la prevalencia es similar a lo publicado por Bandeira y colaboradores en Brasil, el cual registró hasta 70%, lo cual una vez más pone de relieve la inminente necesidad de caracterizar a las poblaciones del continente(23) .Respecto a los niveles de 25(OH)D3, las medias reportadas en este estudio, muestran valores superiores a los informados en Chile por González y colaboradores, el cual menciona que casi la mitad (48%) tenía niveles séricos de 25(OH)D3 <17 ng/ mL y el 60% era <20 ng/mL(24) .…”
