Secondary Metabolites From Different Extractives of Stereospermum suaveolens

Abstract: ABSTRACT:The methanol extract of leaves and bark of Stereospermum suaveolens has been subjected to repeated-chromatographic separation and purification processes to isolate the secondary metabolites. A total of seven compounds have been isolated from the plant, which were identified as fridelin (1), β-sitosterone (stigmast-5-en-3-one) (2), stigmasterol (3), 3,4-dimethoxy cis-caffeic acid (4), 3β-friedelanol (5), β-amyrone (6) and glyceryl tricaprate (7). The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated… Show more

“…Thus, it was confirmed as stigmast-5-en-3-one (4). 6,7 Although, α-friedelan-3-ol (2), 4hydroxyxanthone (3), and stigmast-5-en-3-one (4) have been reported from C. inophyllum; this is the first report of occurrence of β-friedelin (1) from this plant. However, β-friedelin (1) was previously found in C. soulattri, C. brasiliense, C. thwaitesii, C. moonii, C. cordato-oblongum, and C. mucigerum [8][9][10][11][12] , whereas, 4-hydroxyxanthone (3) has been reported from C. soulattri and C. brasiliense.…”

“…12 Linalool, elemol, geranyl acetate, myrcene, alloocimene, α-Terpinene, (E)-β-Ocimene and neryl acetate had been isolated as essential oil from this plant. 13 As a part of our continuing studies with medicinal plants of Bangladesh [14][15][16][17][18] , we studied M. koenigii and we, herein, report the isolation of arborinine (1) 19 , ferulic acid (2) 20 , umbelliferone (3) 21 , mahanimbine (4) 6 , koenimbine (5) 5 , koenidine…”
