Secondary metabolites of Curvularia sp. G6-32, an endophyte of Sapindus saponaria, with antioxidant and anticholinesterasic properties

Abstract: In the present study the extract of the secondary metabolites (E-G6-32) produced by the Curvularia sp. G6-32 endophyte (isolated from the medicinal plant Sapindus saponaria L.) and its biological activities were investigated. The antioxidant potential was confirmed by the DPPH (22.5%) and ABTS (62.7%) assays; the total phenolic compound content was 40 µg gallic acid equivalents/mg. The extract E-G6-32 displayed good inhibitory activity toward butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE; IC 50 = 110 ± 0.05 µg mL -1 ). The ext… Show more

“…G6-32 is an endophyte of the medicinal plant Sapindus saponaria . This compound has attractive structural complexity, functional groups diversity, and a wide range of biological activities like specific enzyme inhibitory activity (Polli et al, 2021 ). When Curvularia lunata was grown on malt extract broth in laboratory conditions, it produced three perylenequinones named methylated 12-epi-stemphytriol, alterperylenol, and dihydroalterperylenol.…”

“…In addition, phomoterpene A, phomoisocoumarin D isolated from Diaporthe prunorum, an endophytic fungi isolated from Hypericum ascyron, has potential antimicrobial activity (Qu et al 2020), while Curvularia sp. G6-32, an endophytic isolate of medicinal plant Sapindus saponaria, produces Asperpentyn, an epoxyquinone compound, which is a potential antioxidant (Polli et al 2020).…”
