Secondary School Students’ Error of Term of Algebraic Forms Based on Mathematical Communication

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe students’ error on (1) the ability to understand the term of algebraic forms, and (2) the ability to communicate the term of algebraic forms into words and verbal forms. This is a case study. The study shows that: (1) the ability to understand the term of algebraic forms are low because of misunderstanding the slight differences between exponent and algebra itself, and (2) the ability to communicate the term of algebraic forms into words and verbal forms are cha… Show more

“…The mathematics learning process takes place. It is better to provide a problem that must be resolved by steps that are conveyed orally or in writing, to be able to give provisions to students in improving their ability to think systematically and mathematically (Cholily, Y.M., Kamil, T.R., & Kusgiarohmah, 2020).…”

“…Therefore, mathematics is required at all levels of education, starting from elementary school, middle school, and college (Li, 2020;Ribas, 2019;Shah, 2018). The aim of mathematics lessons is so that students can solve problems, which includes the ability to understand problems, design mathematical models, complete mathematical models, and interpret the solutions obtained (Cholily et al, 2020;S. N. Hasanah et al, 2021;Sugianto et al, 2022).…”
