Secure decentralized IoT Infrastructure

Abstract: Abstract-Despite many Internet of Things (IoT) Infrastructures having been implemented in recent years, none of them is truly prepared for a global deployment, where failure tolerance and scalability are an essential requirement. This article presents an alternative concept for IoT Infrastructures, which focuses on enhancing the traditional centralized architecture, usually operated by a single entity, into a decentralized architecture featuring multiple business roles. We propose a dynamic and self-configurab… Show more

“…In [48], the authors focused on the EPCglobal network, and proposed a discovery service that provides item track and trace capabilities along the entire supply chain. The work in [145] proposed a dynamic and self-configurable infrastructure on top of a structured P2P network. The authors also considered the heterogeneity issue and data access by introducing a set of communication protocols.…”

“…The devices enjoy the desirable merits of peer-to-peer (P2P) communication, flexibility and better efficiency to exchange information. A majority of decentralized IoT leverages Blockchain [12] to build the underlying P2P network. A San Francisco based startup Helium 3 has built a blockchain machine network for IoT.…”
