Security architecture and scheme of user‐centric ultra‐dense network (UUDN)

Abstract: User‐centric ultra‐dense network (UUDN) is an inspiring approach of 5G, characterized by serving each user with dynamic access point group and designed to be independent of user's involvement. Contrast with traditional network‐centric cellular network, the UUDN architecture is based on the philosophy of network serving user. However, there is little systematic analysis of the security of UUDN, especially, the UUDN security architecture and key technologies challenges. After analysis of the main security challe… Show more

“…Ref. [52] summarizes the security aspects of UUDNs' architecture, while also discussing the problems and needs associated with the UUDN's security concerns. Finally, a novel lightweight batch authentication and key agreement (LBAKA) strategy for user-centric UDN scenarios, which also utilizes mutual authentication and one-to-one key agreement to check the communication's trustworthiness on both sides is proposed in [53].…”

“…Secure Authentication: 5G networks face several authentication issues, from the frequent authentication applied in Ultra-Dense Network (UDN) to the authentication vulnerability such as key derivation scheme [10][11]. These dilemmas expose the network to attackers and increase the latency.…”

“…Another type of UDN is the user-centric UDN (UUDN) [22,23], which has a local control center coordinated with the user, and the virtual adjoined cell is defined based on the unit of a single user. A typical UDN/UUDN architecture is shown in Figure 1.…”
