“…In addition to the ductile deformation features, the studied region also displays several northwest–southeast oriented faults (Figure 2; Takeuchi, 1996; Jia & Takeuchi, 2020). The boundary between the Kayumi and Iitaka units coincides with clear discontinuities both in lithology (Figure 2) and structural elements including orientations of the Ls and Fu axes (Figure 4b).…”

“…Detrital grains of quartz are rarely elongate and studies of psammitic rocks with less clear signs of ductile strain in the southern part of the study area show aspect ratios close to 1. Detrital feldspar tends to show elongate shapes due to fracturing of the mineral grains along their cleavage planes (e.g., figure 5d in Jia & Takeuchi, 2020). For these reasons we consider our results to represent good estimates of the true strain.…”

“…Naturally, peninsulas are formed around mineral deposits with the intervention of tides and currents over time. As the peninsula forms, the nearby surface is populated by plants and mineral residues (Jia and Takeuchi, 2020;Senaratne and Dissanayake, 1982). When civilizations are built around these areas, though the original mineral deposits are likely to be preserved, new and alien substances will be introduced to the environment.…”
