“…Premature birth leads to insufficient intrauterine nutrition reserve and is accompanied by functional dysplasia of various body systems, which results in the weakening of disease prevention and immune function, as well as higher mortality rates (Patil et al, 2021; Risnes et al, 2021). While the advanced development of medical technology has decreased the births and mortality of premature infants (Glover & Manuck, 2018), most procedures involved in medical care are traumatic and painful, especially for premature infants who may spend weeks or even months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) during which period they may undergo various painful procedures (Bucsea & Pillai Riddell, 2019; Espinosa Fernández et al, 2021).
