Abstract:This report is a compilation of component failure rate and repair rate values that can be used in magnetic fusion safety assessment tasks. Several safety systems are examined, such as gas cleanup systems and plasma shutdown systems. Vacuum system component reliability values, including large vacuum chambers, have been reviewed. Values for water cooling system components have also been reported here. The report concludes with the examination of some equipment important to personnel safety, primarily sensors to … Show more
“…In order to assess occurrence of each failure mode, firstly components linked with each basic function were identified. Secondly, failure rate data [5,6] was used to assess occurrence of each failure mode. In case of lack of publicly available information, operational feedback from existing facilities was used.…”

“…Failure rate of the basic components was collected from publications [5,6] and operational feedback. Table 2 summarizes availability simulation result for each main function in the system, assuming in both H and DT phase.…”
“…Probability data was roughly estimated by comparison with events in previous work [11,12]. Various potential consequences were analyzed, up to now only non-dimensional severity numbers were assigned by the comparison of the severities of different events.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
